ABOUT SNETP
The Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP) is a dynamic research,
development, and
innovation platform that supports and promotes the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Generation
II, III, and IV civil nuclear systems. Recognized as a European Technology and Innovation Platform
(ETIP) by the European Commission, SNETP plays a crucial role in facilitating cooperation among its
members to advance nuclear technologies.
SNETP comprises three pillars to support the EU's transition towards a carbon-neutral economy by
2050:
- NUGENIA: Dedicated to the research and development (R&D) of nuclear fission technologies, with a focus on the safe and efficient operation of Generation II and III nuclear plants. NUGENIA's Pillar encompasses eight technical areas, including Plant Safety and Risk Assessment, Severe Accidents, Improved Nuclear Power Plant Operation, and more.
- ESNII: Focuses on industrial initiatives aiming to demonstrate Generation IV technologies with closed fuel cycles, maximizing the potential of nuclear energy while minimizing waste.
- NC2I: Aims to demonstrate innovative and competitive energy solutions for low-carbon cogeneration of heat and electricity, and hydrogen production based on nuclear energy.
The SNETP Association boasts over 120 members drawn from industry, research and development organizations, academia, technical and safety organizations, SMEs, as well as non-governmental bodies.
