The first Annual Progress Meeting of the European project EASI-SMR is organized by EDF in collaboration with CIEMAT, and will be hosted at CIEMAT’s premises in Madrid from October 28 to 30, 2025. This event will bring together around 100 participants, including project partners, external stakeholders interested in the project’s outcomes, and a panel of international experts providing strategic guidance on the project’s progress.
Objective
Main objectives:
- Review the activities and achievements of the project’s first year;
- Share updates on the development of light-water Small Modular Reactors (LW-SMRs) in Europe, with a focus on the NUWARD SMR and LDR-50, and identify their R&D needs;
- Plan and coordinate the second year of the project, ensuring alignment with EASI-SMR’s overarching goal: to support the development and licensing of LW-SMRs in Europe.

- Opening remarks by Prof. Yolanda Benito (Director General, CIEMAT) and Prof. Javier Dies (Commissioner, Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN), and Chairman of CEIDEN)
